According to
the research done by Mark Fischetti, most of the teenagers around the world
don’t get as much sleep as they should and this causes them to get more
stressed. In this research it is shown that the average hours that teens sleep,
for example teenagers in USA get between 6 hours, 56 minutes of sleep a night,
while teens in the UK sleep for 7 hours, 38 minutes aprox. Finally teens in
Japan and South Korea sleep for about 5 hours, 47minutes.
One of the main
causes of this is schools schedule, in most places school starts early in the
morning before 8:00 am, however in places like in the UK students that attend
school after 8:30 am have shown less stress and better grades as well as they
appeared to be more relaxed .It is also shown that teens that don´t get the
hours of sleep that they need are much more stressed and also happen to be very
moody, these are the teens that are often falling asleep in school.
In our opinion,
we think that the article is very accurate mainly because of our personal experiences
like going to sleep late doing some high school project or spending time on
social media, and then getting up very early the next morning, so we kind of
get the same hours of sleep as the teens from USA. We also have experienced
being stressed, especially during exams.
We think that
the best way for teens to be less stressed and to get better grades is to go to
sleep early and also to attend school after 8:30. That way they also get more
hours to sleep and live happier.
